Who sells taxi advertising in New York City?

Five companies ran New York yellow-taxi advertising hardware on 2026-09-14: CMT and Curb operate the in-car screens; SOMO, NY Taxi Ads and Firefly operate digital tops. Six more (Blue Line Media, DASH TWO, Alluvit Media, AdQuick, BillboardsIn, Inspiria Outdoor) resell or quote it. Three familiar names, Curb Taxi Media, Vector Media and OUTFRONT, showed no live NYC taxi product.

Operators with a live NYC product 5 2 in-car screen, 3 digital top
Resellers and marketplaces 6 One publishes a New York rate card
Names that failed the check 3 Parked, transit-only, or no taxi product

Method: each company's site was opened on 2026-09-14 and passed or failed three tests: a live page showing a New York taxi product; a statement of what inventory it actually controls; and a yes or no on a published rate. Operators are listed by the size of the New York figure they publish, and a company that publishes none is listed last in its group. This is a roster, not a ranking, and no company paid to be on it. Fleet figures are the TLC record; prices are on the cost page.

01

Who runs the screens inside the cab?

Two companies, both of which also supply taxicab technology systems: CMT's page links its NY TPEP 2.0 terms, Curb's site lists digital meter and payment systems. Taxi TV is their inventory; everyone else resells it.

CMT · Creative Mobile Technologies, LLC

In-car screens · page read: CMT Media Network

Controls
Owns and runs the in-taxi video network on its own passenger screens; a TLC taxicab technology provider (the page links its NY TPEP 2.0 terms).
Publishes about itself
10.4-inch screens; the program plays only when a passenger opts to watch; 5,600 passenger-facing screens across 10 U.S. markets, stated in its September 2025 partnership announcement with SOMO, with no New York count.
Rate card
No. Price is on a per-ad basis, capped at the contracted number of ads, on request.

Curb · Curb Mobility, LLC

In-car screens · page read: Advertise on Taxi TV

Controls
Runs Curb Taxi TV, which it describes as the nation's largest taxi video network; the same company supplies fleet payment and digital-meter systems, per its site. Sells direct and programmatically through Place Exchange, Vistar and DSP partners, as it states.
Publishes about itself
15K+ screens, 2.2B+ impressions annually, 65+ major markets, stated on the page with no method and no New York count.
Rate card
No. Contact the ad sales team.
02

Who runs the roof units?

Three operators with a live New York digital-top page. Only one publishes a count; the other two say "largest" and "thousands". The order below is the order of what they put in writing.

SOMO · A division of GPO Vallas

Digital tops · In-car screens (via CMT) · Wrapped vehicles · page read: Products and Solutions

Controls
Runs an all-digital taxi-top network on yellow taxis under what it calls a T&LC partnership; also sells CMT Taxi TV screens under a partnership announced September 2025, plus wrapped vehicles, LED trucks and holographic projections as activations.
Publishes about itself
4,000 digital taxi-top displays across 2,000 yellow taxis, stated on its site. Against the TLC record that is 2,000 of the 10,196 authorized medallion vehicles, if every one of them is on the road.
Rate card
No. Media kits and rates on request by email.

NY Taxi Ads · NY Taxi Ads LLC

Digital tops · page read: NYC Taxi Advertising and Taxi Top Ads

Controls
Describes itself as the operator of the largest digital taxi-top network in New York and says it is not a reseller. Its case studies mention full wraps and in-car screens but the site sells digital tops.
Publishes about itself
"Thousands" of taxis and, in one case study, digital tops covering about 65% of the New York market. No fleet count is published, so the claim cannot be set against the record.
Rate card
No rate card. A blog guide gives general estimates ($300 to $500 static, $400 to $600 digital, $2,000+ wraps, per taxi per month) that match Blue Line Media's New York rows to the dollar.

Firefly

Digital tops · Static tops · In-car screens · Wraps on non-medallion vehicles · page read: Advanced Digital Tops and Car Wraps

Controls
Runs GPS-enabled digital tops on taxis and rideshare vehicles in New York and 14 other listed North American markets, static taxi tops, Taxi TV, and full, partial and door wraps on vehicles with or without digital tops; also LED trucks and holograms. Acquired Curb Taxi Media in June 2021.
Publishes about itself
No New York fleet count is published on the page, which is why it is listed last here.
Rate card
No.

A note on wraps, since two of the three list them. 35 RCNY 58-32(c) bars advertising on the exterior of a taxicab unless the Commission authorizes it, and rooftop fixtures are the exterior format with that authorization (67-16). A wrap sold in New York therefore runs on for-hire, rideshare or branded fleet vehicles, not on a yellow medallion cab, unless the seller can show a TLC authorization. The campaign archive shows what each looks like on the street.

03

Who resells or quotes it?

None of these owns a screen or a roof unit in New York. All six publish a figure of some kind, which is why most of the prices in circulation come from them and why their rows on the cost page are labelled by type.

Company What it is Fleet or audience claim Publishes a rate?
Blue Line Media
Static tops, Digital tops, Taxi TV
None. Its footer states it is not the owner or exclusive provider of the formats on its site. Its New York page lists static tops, digital tops and Taxi TV, and says Uber and Lyft advertising is not currently permitted in New York City. 11,000 (approx.) taxis and 10,900 (approx.) impressions per taxi per day, both unsourced. Yes. A New York rate table per display per four weeks, plus a $5,000 minimum per ad format.
DASH TWO
Tops, Trunk, Wraps, In-car screens
None. A digital and outdoor agency that says it holds vendor relationships across New York and other markets and handles sourcing, creative review and reporting. No fleet or impression figure for New York. Approximate national costs per format; contact for market rates.
Alluvit Media
Static tops, Digital tops, Interior
None. A media agency whose taxi-top guide is national; the page has no New York product, only a note that New York pays the high end. "Over 13,500 taxis" in New York, unsourced; the TLC licensing file holds 10,196. National ranges per taxi per four weeks in a blog post.
AdQuick
Tops, Wraps, Trunk, Taxi TV, Rideshare
None. A self-serve marketplace that states it aggregates taxi and rideshare inventory from more than 1,700 media owners, New York among 50+ cities. "13,000+ yellow cabs" in New York, unsourced; the record is 13,589 medallions and 8,878 cabs on the road per day. National ranges per vehicle per four weeks and CPM estimates; "varies by market" for minimums.
BillboardsIn
Static tops, Digital tops, Seat-back screens
None. A quote-request site that says it draws on a database of taxi advertising vendors. An impressions-and-CPM sentence that does not reconcile with its own stated monthly average; reproduced on the cost page. Estimated New York prices per taxi per month, and two averages that disagree with each other.
Inspiria Outdoor
Printed tops, Digital tops, Taxi TV
None. An outdoor planning and buying agency; the taxi page names New York and Chicago as saturation markets. No fleet or impression figure. One figure for printed tops and a starting budget for digital tops, with no period stated.
04

Which names failed the check?

Three companies appear in search results for New York taxi advertising and did not have a live taxi product on 2026-09-14. They are recorded so the reader does not have to check again.

Name What was found on 2026-09-14
Curb Taxi Media Acquired by Firefly in June 2021 (OOH Today, 24 June 2021). On 2026-09-14 curbtaximedia.com served a domain-parking lander and no taxi product. It is not a seller.
Vector Media Headquartered on Seventh Avenue in New York, but on 2026-09-14 its site offered bus advertising and bus shelter advertising only; the word taxi does not appear on the homepage, and a taxi product path returns 404.
OUTFRONT Its New York market page lists billboards, street furniture and the MTA subway, bus and rail network. The word taxi appears nowhere on that page or the homepage on 2026-09-14, and a taxi media path returns 404.

The pattern is the point: the companies that own the hardware publish nothing, and the companies that publish prices own nothing. Every published figure, its publisher's type and the date it was read is on the cost page, next to the arithmetic of what a budget buys out of the 8,878 yellow taxis on the road per day.

What to ask before signing

Nine questions, each answerable in one line, each with a reason from this site's records. A seller who answers all nine in writing has given you a proposal that can be compared with another.

  1. Which vehicles, and out of what fleet? A count or medallion list, set against the 8,878 yellow taxis on the road per day (NYC TLC monthly indicators, May 2026), not against 13,589 medallions.
  2. Do you run the hardware or resell it? Blue Line Media's own footer says it is not the owner or exclusive provider; a reseller's rate has an operator's rate underneath it.
  3. On a digital rotation, what is my share of voice? How many advertisers in the loop, how many seconds each, and whether the cab count is screens or minutes.
  4. How many hours a day are my cabs on the street? The TLC average is 8.5 hours and 26.6 days a month; a shift-based fleet is not a 24-hour fleet.
  5. How are impressions counted? Geopath-based or a vendor model, against which traffic data, and modelled on which cabs. A round number with no method is a claim, not a measurement.
  6. What is the unit and the minimum? Per cab per four weeks or per month; per screen or per fleet spot; and the minimum in writing, since only one reseller publishes one.
  7. Is production, installation and removal included? Most published rates are silent; one marketplace includes it for wraps, one agency says to budget removal.
  8. What is the proof of performance? Dated photographs and GPS logs for roof units; for Taxi TV, how a play is counted on a screen the passenger has switched off, which the rulebook allows (35 RCNY 75-25(d)(1)(vi)).
  9. If it is a wrap, which vehicles is it on? A yellow medallion cab needs a TLC authorization for exterior advertising (58-32(c)); a wrap on a for-hire or branded vehicle reaches a different street.

Frequently asked questions

Who sells taxi advertising in NYC?
Two groups. Operators that run the hardware: CMT and Curb on the passenger screens inside yellow cabs, and SOMO, NY Taxi Ads and Firefly on digital roof units. Resellers and marketplaces that quote the same inventory: Blue Line Media, DASH TWO, Alluvit Media, AdQuick, BillboardsIn and Inspiria Outdoor. Each had a live page showing a New York taxi product on 2026-09-14. Only Blue Line Media publishes a New York rate card; the operators publish none.
Which company has the most taxi tops in New York City?
The only operator that publishes a New York count is SOMO: 4,000 digital displays across 2,000 yellow taxis, as stated on its site. NY Taxi Ads and Firefly both describe a large New York network and publish no number, so their claims cannot be compared. Against the TLC record, 2,000 cabs is under a quarter of the 8,878 yellow taxis on the road on an average day (NYC TLC monthly indicators, May 2026), which is the denominator any "largest" claim should be checked against.
Who operates Taxi TV in New York?
CMT and Curb. Both supply taxicab technology systems (CMT's page links its NY TPEP 2.0 terms; Curb's site lists digital meter and payment systems), and the passenger screen that carries Taxi TV is the Passenger Information Monitor such a system must include under 35 RCNY 75-25(d). CMT sells its screens directly and, since September 2025, through SOMO; Curb sells directly and programmatically through Place Exchange and Vistar, as its page states. Blue Line Media, DASH TWO, AdQuick and Inspiria Outdoor resell fleet spots and per-screen buys.
Is Curb Taxi Media still selling NYC taxi advertising?
No. Curb Taxi Media was acquired by Firefly in June 2021, reported by OOH Today on 24 June 2021 with the statement that the deal covered more than ten thousand top-of-car screens across 11 cities. On 2026-09-14 curbtaximedia.com served a domain-parking page. Curb Mobility, a different company, still operates Curb Taxi TV inside cabs and is listed above.
Do OUTFRONT or Vector Media sell taxi advertising in New York?
Not on any page read on 2026-09-14. OUTFRONT's New York market page covers billboards, street furniture and the MTA network, and its site returns 404 for a taxi media path. Vector Media's site offers bus and bus shelter advertising only. Both appear in search results for New York taxi advertising because of their transit inventory, not because they sell taxi formats.
How do I advertise on a taxi in New York?
Name the audience first, because a roof unit and a passenger screen reach different people; the taxi top versus Taxi TV page sets out who sees each. Then take dates, budget and the audience to an operator or a reseller from this roster, and ask the questions in the checklist above before signing: which cabs, out of the 8,878 on the road per day, for how many hours, at what share of voice, with production and proof of performance stated in writing.
